In this month's cover-story special, Ben Davis BSC speaks to British Cinematographer about teaming up with director Tim Burton for the first time to bring the live-action version of Dumbo to life.

The reimagining of the 1941 Disney classic stars Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton and Danny DeVito and tells the story of a struggling circus which is saved by Dumbo who becomes a star when it's discovered that his oversized ears enable him to fly. But, when the circus plans a new venture, Dumbo and his friends uncover dark secrets beneath the circus' shiny exterior.

Davis tells us about the challenges of representing a giant CGI elephant, the great collaborations which brought the images to life and why the gamble of waiting on the production to get the green-light paid off

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! In this month's cover-story special, we catch up with Dion Beebe ACS ASC to discuss his time shooting Mary Poppins Returns and working alongside director Rob Marshall for a fifth time.

The film, which has received three Academy Award nominations, sees the iconic and much-loved Mary Poppins back on our screens more than 50 years after the original, this time in 1930s London. In it, Mary Poppins comes to the rescue in typical fashion as she returns to save a grown-up Michael and Jane Banks from a troublesome situation and take them on an unforgettable journey. Beebe talks about paying homage to a classic whilst wrapping a new generation into the story, the value gained from constructing LUTs in pre-production and the fun to be had with a mixed-bag of lighting tricks.
