Cameraman Sami-al-Haj arrested for six years now


With no trial Sami-al-Haj , a reporter cameraman, while in Pakistan, in an assignment, had been allegedly kidnapped in December 2001. Months later he was known to be in Guantanamo prison (USA).

ALEX THOMSON, BSC (1929-2007)


IMAGO sadly reports that the English Cinematographer ALEX THOMSON, 78 years old, died on June 14th, 2007 at 8 a.m. The European Federation of Cinematographers offers its deepest regrets to ALEX THOMSON's family and friends. Having started his career when he was 18 years old, THOMSON slowly climbed the Cinematographer's ladder. After having acquired significant experience during his thirties as camera operator, especially under Nicolas Roeg's direction, it was in his forties, during the end of 60's decade, that he started working as Cinematographer. more ...


New digital camera Red One


The new digital camera Red One 4K has been presented « in flesh and bone » at NAB. It's 12 megapixels sensor, the Mysterium CMOS, has a 4520x2540 resolution in 4K. The sensor's dimensions (24,4 x 13,7 mm) are the same as a Super 35 image. Having a 3,6Kg weight, this camera also has a PL mounting, compatible with 16 and 35mm formats. Göteborg International Film Festival 2007 - Sweden


Scandinavia 's largest film event ended, February 5. Swedish director Johan Kling's debut feature film, Darling , won the Nordic competition at the 30th Göteborg International Film Festival.

The festival has sold a record number of tickets - 122,400 - for 700 screenings of 450 films from 68 countries.

The Kodak Nordic Vision Award went to Norwegian cinematographer HARALD PAALGARD, FNF for his collaboration with Danish director Peter Schønau. more ...
