Can the Cinevator change the film industry?

Based on the experience our customers have gained with the Cinevator® we already see clear indications on changes in the industry.The Cinevator®one with its real time recording on intermediate negative has significantly reduced the time it takes from the DI is ready until the first print can be screened and approved. Further we see that print quality has been improved due to the ability of the Cinevator® to make multiple printing negatives in a very short time, and thus eliminate the need for the traditional time consuming and quality degrading IP > IN process. In several markets subtitled negatives has started to become popular. And with the Cinevator®, the image and the text is in the same focal plane.

The Cinevator®five has enabled the opportunity for more content to be shown at the big screen; and content to be shown with never-before-seen image quality. We see that our customers have developed innovative services for direct-to-print with an attractive cost saving compared to going through the traditional intermediate negative. For small and medium releases this is perfect, - the film creators get their content to the big screen with superb 2K true resolution on print at a fraction of the cost they are used to pay. Thus, the producers are willing to take the risk (i.e. the cost) to make a print for e.g. a festival or a small release in a local market.

The Cinevator® enables more content (e.g. short films and documentaries) to be screened at the cinemas – thus getting a well deserved opportunity to be seen by more people.

Cinevator®five awarded with prestigious “red dot” design prize

The Cinevator®five has been granted the prestigious red dot design award. The Cinevator®five is the world's first and only real time digital film recorder and printer.

With its outstanding and innovative design, the Cinevator®five succeeded in one of the most prestigious international design competitions worldwide. In the red dot product design award competition, the Cinevator®five was awarded the “red dot” quality seal for high design quality by the top-class expert jury. This award is only conferred to particularly creative, innovative, and high-quality products. In total 3,203 products from 51 nations faced the expert judgment this year.

The designer team with Geir Olav Kuvaas ( Axis AS ), Rune Bjerkestrand ( Cinevation AS ) and Sigurd Orpen ( Tronrud AS ) gained the distinction from the jury, who explicitly acknowledged their creativity and innovative drive and paid tribute to the high quality standards of their product.
