Chrosziel introduces 4 new products at NAB 2008
|
At this year's NAB, Chrosziel shows product expansions and a completely new product family of sunshades for HDV camcorders with a 1/3” chip. Furthermore, the Cine-Style Conversion for Sony HDVF-C35 Monitor is shown on already three cameras in Las Vegas (see photo). Chrosziel will deliver this version by mid/end of April.
DSW© 400 Direct-Swing-Away© is Chrosziel's new patented bracket, which offers a radically new solution of so called swing-away mounts for matte boxes. All known designs, those from Chrosziel included, slide first the matte box housing forward until the light protection is not covering the lens any more, thus clearing a hinge mechanism to swing the matte box sideward. There is a mathematically definable geometry existing, which avoids the need for sliding at all. This is simplifying the design, makes the system less heavy and at the same time more sturdy.
Chrosziel has filed exactly this geometry for patent and offers as a first product with Direct-Swing-Away© system the MatteBox 450 DSW© for HDV camcorder. Following Chrosziel's modular design philosophy, the DSW©400 mount fits all MB450 ever sold for upgrade. The same applies for all so far built Chrosziel SunShades with 110mm and 104mm clamp adaptors. When shooting with exchangeable lenses, one can easily upgrade from an SunShade or MB450 to a swing-away-system on light weight supports. (see photo, MB450DSW on LWS or camera) The price is Euro 995.- for the MB 450 DSW© and Euro 245 for the DSW©400 retrofit set.
New is the CMB family of products . This is Chrosziel's answer to the fast growing HDV camcorder market. The products are “Made in Germany ” and are offered at very competitive prices. CMB stands for Clamp-on-MatteBox, as Chrosziel sees the majority of the customers for this line of products in the US . But also in Europe a certain demand for lightweight and lower priced equipment has been detected. Two products are offered. (see photo CMB-R10 and CMB-R20) The CMB-R10 comes with a rotatable single filter stage for 4x4” filters. Although using the 4x4 filter format, the filter rotation is unrestricted for all lenses with wide angle attachments. The second product is the CMB-R20 . It features a double-rotating-filter-stage for 4x4” filters. “A technical master piece at a very ambitious price point”, Chrosziel describes this SunShade. Also with the CMB-R20 all wide angle converters may be used without vignetting as long as only the second stage rotates. Until 4.2 mm focal length, all filter stages can rotate unrestricted. (see photo CMB-R20 on HVX200)
Both clamp-on-matte boxes are complete with 110mm clamp adaptor, filter holder(s) and French Flag. By use of an aluminium screw-in ring, which reinforces the front end of the lens and an Insertring, the SunShade is safely mounted to the lens. (see photo, combination of rings) The proposed retail prices are EUR 440.- for the CMB-R10 and EUR 580.- for CMB-R20 . Also these SunShades can be upgraded by the DSW©400 Direct-Swing-Away© adaptor, for use with lightweight supports (LWS). This allows for using e. g. a follow focus unit like the Chrosziel DV Studio Rig or the HDV Rig VariLock©®. In other words, the CMB SunShades provide the entry into the Chrosziel System.
Ready for delivery is the Cine-Style Conversion set for the Sony HDVF-C35 viewfinder monitor. The set comprises the mounting rod, which enables the flexible positioning of the viewfinder aside the Sony F23 camera body. Additionally supplied is a tube, which clips on the monitor in exchange of the angled original Sony part and accepts the Sony eyepiece on the other side. Inside this tube is a manual shutter to prevent the screen from burn-outs caused by direct light. An electrical shutter, which closes automatically as soon as the eyepiece is not shaded by a viewer, is being tested in the labs and will be released in autumn, if demanded.
