Best Cinematography to Sergei Trofimov and Rogier Stoffers Last March 22, 2008 Russian Academy of Cinematographic Arts has presented its 21 st edition of Nika Awards. This is the most important national film award in Russia . Amazingly, this year, one single film has one all six categories: “Mongol” . Cinematography Nika Award was granted to Sergei Trofimov and Rogier Stoffers . Sergei Trofimov (1961, Russia ) works regularly with award winning director (both in Europe and Russia ) Timur Bekmambetov. “Peshavarskiy vals/ Peshavar Waltz” (1994); “Nochnoy dozor/ Night Watch: Nochnoi Dozor” (2004) and “Dnevnoy dozor/ Day Watch” (2006). They are currently working on a new film title “Twilight Watch” (2009). “Mongol” is the first collaboration between Trofimov and Sergei Bodrov.
Rogier Stoffers, NSC (1961, Netherlands) began his career in 1989 getting visibility with film title “Karakter” (1997) by Mike van Diem, widely awarded. For it, STOFFERS himself gets Audience Award and Silver Camera 300 awards by Brothers Manaki International Film Festival and also the Golden Frog by Camerimage . Also, in 1999, Nederlands Film Festival awards him with Golden Calf. STOFFERS career takes of and in 2000 he works with Oscar nominated director Philip Kaufman (“Quills”) in what is his first international production. Nick Cassavetes invites him for “John Q” (2002) and this is STOFFERS' first collaboration in an exclusive USA production. Between 2002 and 2008 he collaborates in seven American feature films having actually moved there.
