Budapest Cinematography Masterclass 2007

On its 5 th edition Budapest hosts once again the “Budapest Cinematography Masterclass”, held every two years. The main elements of the team are JÁNOS KENDE, HSC - Head of Film- and TV Department, JáNOS XANTUS - Director of the Masterclass, TIBOR VAGYOCZKY, HSC Head of Studies and JOZSEF RáK, Professor – among other special guests.

For the first time GYöRGY ILLéS (1996-2006), the Hungarian Society of Cinematographers Honorary President, will not be a witness of this edition but his presence will be felt. His massive experience and knowledge has passed on to many of his students like Sándor Sára, Vilmos Zsigmond, Lajos Koltai, László Kovács, Sándor Kardos, János Kende, Elemér Ragályi.

This year, the Masterclass will have an intensive schedule form 17-30, September. Studio presentations and exercises will be held most of the times at BK FILMSTUDIO though students will visit laboratories and post-production studios. Cinematographers ELEMÉR RAGÁLYI, GERGELY POHÁRNOK, VILMOS ZSIGMOND, ANDRÁS NAGY, GÁBOR SZABÓ and DÁNIEL GARAS will discuss some of their film titles with students.

Worldwide acknowledged cinematographer VILMOS ZSIGMOND will deliver a class on “Professional Introduction Of Master Cinematographer” (24). Recently deceased LASZLO KOVACS (1933-2007) will not be forgotten and lifetime friend VILMOS ZSIGMOND will be available to discuss one of KOVACS' film titles “PAPERMOON” (27).
