28th “MANAKI BROTHERS”

ALMOST THERE

The International Cinematographers' Film Festival “Manaki Brothers” that will take place for the 28th time this year in Bitola, the Republic of Macedonia (September 25-30, 2007), will start its program by presenting the latest Macedonian film “Upside down” by Igor Ivanov Izy.

The film, based on a novel by Venko Andonovski (b. 1964) , tells the story of Jan, a type of romantic malcontent, who can't find rest, who continually hurts people and gets hurt himself.

Director of Photography Tomi Salkovski is working with Ivanov Izy for the second time (having their first collaboration Bubacki/ Bugs (2004) been nominated for Golden Berlin Bear that same year).

The projection of “Upside down” will take place on September 25 in the Centre for Culture in Bitola (the main location of all festival events) and this would be the Macedonian premiere of the film. “Upside down” had its world premiere on the 42nd International Film Festival in Karlovi Vari, and as of October 2007 the film starts its tour on the festivals in Valencia, Cottbus, Sao Paolo, and Chicago…

Once again this year, the most reputable film festival in Macedonia, the International Cinematographers' Film Festival “Manaki Brothers” will offer the already established programs with the latest world and domestic film achievements, be host to cinematographers and film authors from several European countries, promote, show and present a centre of all film events in the Republic of Macedonia.
