Budapest International Cinematography Masterclass |
The Budapest Cinematography Masterclass is a biannual workshop that has been successfully running since 1991. During the two-week schedule postgraduate film school students, and young professionals, do film lighting and shooting exercises under the supervision of the world's greatest living cinematographers. In 2005, Cinematographers Vilmos Zsigmond ASC and John Schwartzman ASC were present. This year's the Masterclass includes, once again, Vilmos Zsigmond ASC and Elemér Ragályi HSC. The programme will also screen classic and contemporary films, followed by discussions with its prominent cinematographers. There are also plans to include a new focus on digital colour timing.
APLICATIONS AND JURY The selection of Masterclass Scholars is based on the portfolio of applicants. (Application sheet, CV, filmography, letter of recommendation from the film school, demo reel or DVD of a recent work.) Members of the Selection Committee are active cinematographers, distinguished professors of cinematography from the University of Drama, Film and Television of Budapest. The Budapest International Cinematography Masterclass is held under the auspices of the Hungarian Society of Cinematographers (HSC) and the Hungarian University of Drama, Film and Television as our pedagogical partner. Financial partners are KODAK, PANAVISION and CILECT (Centre International de Liaison des Écoles de Cinéma et de Télévision). This year we are improving our curricula thanks to the support of the Media Programme of the European Union.
