See, listen and understand Cinema

France, La Rochelle, is going to host the 5 th edition of IDIFF between the 6 th and the 8 th of February 2007. Each day offers seminars that have a common ground: discussing the digital challenges in Cinema. Themes range from technical to changes that the digital will make in present movie crews as we know them. It's an interesting theme for Cinematographers that have to adapt and keep up with fast pace of digital revolution.

Tuesday, february 6

Seminar themes: production and post-production : "Digital negative" and "Digital evolution of the cinema profession" Organised in partnership with the FICAM (French Federation of the Cinema, Audiovisual and Multimedia Industries).

Wednesday, february 7

Presentation of "Case studies": technical choices are made depending on the constraints imposed by the films. How to approach different genres, shooting styles and budgets?

Thursday, february 8

Seminar themes: Digital Europe ? :   "The real cost of digital", "Digital at the heart of the relationships between distributors and exhibitors" and "New commercial offers for Europe " financing models. Service providers will also present commercial offers of cinema equipment to the European market at the event.

An important event will be the Digital Film Market , a market for digital content available for theatrical screening, which will also organise an afternoon of screenings that will allow audiences to discover Sony's 4K system and 3D projection.

For the first time, the event - organised by CN films, with the support of the MEDIA Programme and the CNC - will hold a seminar on Preparing one's production , which gives European production companies the possibility to meet all suppliers involved in the preparation of films (regional support funds, studios, equipment rental companies, talent-spotting agencies, financial bodies) in one location.

Once again, the IDIFF will hold its workshop with a real moving picture studio (Panasonic, Thomson, Panavision and Dalsa cameras) and colour grading rooms and will also provide film training seminars for distributors and exhibitors.

All three days seminars are free if you register online before January 20, 2007 . Air France is IDIFF 's special operator that can transport you to IDIFF.
