D-Cinema @ IBC2006
IBC continues to set the trends in Digital Cinema and what makes D-Cinema such a success at IBC is that it provides the complete experience:Conference - a complete day in the conference, plus the European Digital Cinema Forum (EDCF) on Tuesday 12 September.
Demonstrations - converting the huge RAI Auditorium into a full-scale cinema with state-of-the-art projection plus state-of-the-art sound, making this the ultimate 'Big Screen' experience and the perfect environment for equipment demonstrations and live applications.
Screenings – watching screenings of major new releases in the finest viewing environment you are ever likely to experience. Last year saw screenings of the newly restored The Wizard of Oz and Madagascar and the 2006 programme looks set to be even more exciting.
The IBC Big Screen Experience
Once again IBC will play host to a range of companies showing audio and video innovations and solutions of the future in our very own 1800-seat world class D Cinema, known as the IBC Big Screen Experience. From Friday 8th to Sunday 10th it will provide a platform for manufacturers to showcase technologies including 3D, camera technology, projector technology and a whole host of solutions of the future with stunning pictures and sound.
As well as the leading edge demonstrations there are also plans for screenings of sports events, concerts and exploring audience interactivity.
IBC's Big Screen will also be showing a number of movies. Details for 2006 are still being confirmed, but if the popularity of last year's screenings of the newly restored The Wizard of Oz and Madagascar are anything to go by, it is certain to be a hot ticket.
The D-Cinema experience doesn't stop there. As well as the official IBC D-Cinema Conference on Monday, 11th, there is also the EDCF meeting on Tuesday, 12th:- here they will be reviewing the successes of Digital Cinema across Europe and will highlight the problems and questions pertinent to European creatives and technology providers developing businesses within this new technology.
The DCI event on Sunday is a key session for all those involved in post production, distribution installation, and production of movies and presentation systems. This workshop will review the evolution of the DCI recommendation in the last year and present the current plans for compliance testing and assurance. Progress towards standardization will also be addressed.
