The nominations

The 18th edition of the European Film Academy will be held on December 3rd in Berlin – Germany.

The 6 nominations for European Cinematographer 2005 are already chosen by the members of the Academy.

Christian Berger
for CACHÉ (Hidden).

Christian Berger is the first time that is nominated for a European Award in the category of cinematography. The Austrian cinematographer was born in 1945 in Innsbruck.

His filmography starts in 1973 when he founded the production company Called TTV Film.

It is from here that he builds an extensive career on documentaries. As a cinematographer he shot the French film “La Pianiste” in 2001, directed by Michael Haneke. Christian Berger is also a director of documentaries and long feature films. visit: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0074141

Bruno Delbonnel AFC
for UN LONG DIMANCHE DE FIANÇAILLES (A Very Long Engagement)

The French cinematographer has gain very much acclaim with the movie “A Very Long Engagement”. Bruno is already a customer for this award at the European Academy. He won in 2001 with the film 'Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain' directed by the same director Jean-Pierre Jeunet and was also nominated by the American Academy.

Anthony Dod Mantle DFF
for MANDERLAY

The British cinematographer based in Denmark and member of DFF is well known for his involvement with the Dogma movement started with Thomas Vinterberg in “Celebration”.

Manderlay” is the second time that Anthony collaborates with the dannish director Lars Von Trier. The first time was on “Dogville” in 2003.

Anthony Dod Mantle won the European Cinematographer award in 2002 for “28 Days Later” and in 2003 for “Dogville” again with director Lars Von Trier. His personal website: http://www.dodmantle.com

Ryszard Lenczewski
for MY SUMMER OF LOVE

Ryszard Lenczewski PSC, from Poland has already this year won the Bronze Camera 300 at the Manaki Film Festival with the same film “My Summer of Love” directed by Pawel Pawlikowski.

This is the first time he is nominated for an European Award.

Franz Lustig
for DON’T COME KNOCKING

For Franz Lustig this is the first ever nomination for the European awards.

He has won an award at the German Film Awards in 2004 for his work in “Land of Plenty” for the same director Wim Wenders.

 


Gyula Pados
for SORSTALANSÁG (Fateless)

Gyula Pados HSC has recently received the award in the category of co-productions from his peers in Hungary.

At the last edition of Manaki Brothers in Macedonia Gyula has got the silver Camera 300 for the same film.

This is the first time that the Hungarian cinematographer, once assistant to Vilmos Zsigmond is nominated for an award at the Academy.
