The Portuguese and in France residing Eduardo Serra, AFC, ASC and AIP has won the European Cinematographer Award last Saturday 11th of November in Barcelona - Spain, where was held the 17th annual ceremony of the European Film Awards.
The Portuguese Cinematographer living in France has gained much public acclaim for his work in the film "Girl with the Pearl Earring" directed by Peter Weber.
Eduardo Serra was nominated for the same work for an Oscar and for a BAFTA award last year. Eduardo has won the prize of Best Cinematography at the San Sebastian Film Festival, the Bronze Frog at Camerimage Film Festival and now the highest prize at the European film Academy.

The German film "Head-On" (Gegen Die Wand) directed by Fatih Akin won the prize for best film, while the Spanish Alejandro Almenabar was considered best director for his work with "The Sea Inside''.
Javier Bardem was considered best actor for his performance depicting a paraplegic man who fights for the right to put an end on his own life in the film "The Sea Inside'' (Mar Adentro)
Best actress was Imelda Staunton in "Vera Drake'' a movie shot by the recent winner for best cinematography at the Camerimage Film Festival Dick Pope. The movie directed by Mick Leigh is about an abortion drama staged in England.
