EUROPEAN FEDERATION OF CINEMATOGRAPHERS

The Celebration of the Portuguese Cinematography Association aip

The Portuguese Society of Cinematographers (aip) has organized its first celebration since its foundation. Inspired by a group of focus pullers, it was founded in 1998 and was later joined by directors of photography.

Now, after 6 years of existence it organized an event which took place in the large auditorium of the Superior School of Theatre and Film in Amadora, in the suburbs of Lisbon.

During the ceremony a Professional Certificate was given to the assistant operators and to the directors of photography.

The Portuguese Society has not forgotten the industry which has greatly contributed to the improvement of cinema in the country by supporting schools, short films and the Portuguese Society of Cinematographers.

At the end of the event the honorary title of aip was granted to 14 cinematographers. This means that from now on, these cinematographers can add the acronym to their names.

To close the ceremony, the society payed homage to the honorary members of the society.

Manuel Costa e Silva – 1938-1999 (posthumously)

Eduardo Serra –

Acácio de Almeida –

Daniel del-Negro –

Abel Escoto –

These cinematographers were honored with the newly designed prize of aip.

During the presentation of certificates and awards, many extracts of their work were screened and a short history of the association was given.
