The Australian cinematographer Russell Boyd ACS ASC, has been awarded with the BSC Best Cinematography award 2004 for his work in the film "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003)" directed by Peter Weir.
Russel Boyd has been very much acclaimed for his cinematography in the movie where Russell Crowe plays a captain (Jack Aubrey) of a British frigate depicted during the Napoleonic years. He won the Academy Award this year and the award from the National Society of Film Critics USA.
The following awards were presented at the annual BSC Operators Night held at Elstree Film and Television Studios on Friday 10th December 2004. Gavin Finney, Vice President of the BSC, hosted the event and the director Ken Russell acted as Guest of Honour and presented the awards.
