The NSC Book on Cinematographers

The NSC (netherlands society of cinematographers) is preparing a book on cinematography.
We feel this is a good moment to reflect on all recent (technical) developments in filmmaking and first of all;
what do they mean for the director of photography.
after all, filmmaking is all about content; what do we want to tell and how do we archieve that?
what will the book be?
the book started out as a new presentation of our society.
but since we have a website where one can find all info about our members, we thought it would be a good idea to go a
bit further. why not interview DoP's worldwide and talk with them about the changes that are going on in our profession.
A MOMENT IN TIME.
focussing on two subjects;
- the influence of the digital area.
- the way we use our tools to serve the narrative in filmmaking.
goal is to investigate the changing role of the DoP and the change of filmlanguage.
we speak about the visualisation and the work of the filmmaker/cinematographer.
for example; robert bresson, tarkovski, antonioni; at present we don't see very much of this outspoken use of narrative
tools. is there a reason for that, or is it still there and has it changed?
we ask DoP's questions like these.
altogether this gives an interesting view on contemporary cinematography.
the book will include interviews with 20 to 30 cinematographers.
