The Festival seeks to preserve the legacy of this master cinematographer and advance the art of cinematography while concentrating on the work of young and student directors of photography from around the globe.
In this edition 2018, more than 400 entrants to the fest's cinematography competition have been received from every corner of the world for the five categories: feature films, short films, experimental films, documentaries and animations. The vast majority of applications are short films indicating that Zsigmond Vilmos Film Festival of Szeged is already popular among young, career entrant moviemakers.
Beyond the competition program we have several side-events in the following days. We offer a workshop with James Chressanthis, as well as a commemoration screening of a portrait about György Illés, a former teacher of Vilmos Zsigmond.
Film Department of University of Theatre and Film Arts introduces itself with the leading of director János Szász, and two similar festivals, European Film Festival of Palics and Malter-Vándor Film Festival will be our guests as well.
