Cuban Cinematographers' new short: ACF

The first general assembly of the new Cuban Cinematographers Society CCU took place in La Habana, Cuba on October 20th 2002, the Cuban Culture Day, with a 78% of attendance.

Raúl Rodríguez who presented the membership application in Budapest just a few weeks before, gave a report of the Imago General Assembly in Hungary, also giving his collegues the good news of the admission of the CCU into IMAGO.

The draft of the Statutes for the new founded organization has been confirmed and it was agreed to request some guidance from the Spanish Association AEC in relation to this matter, considering their experience.

The first elections after their constitution led to the following board:

• Adriano Moreno Rodríguez - vicepresident
• Rafael Pastor Ruiz Benitez - vicepresident
• José Manuel Riera Arana - secretary
• Rafael Solís Hernández - treasurer
• Iván Díaz López - vocal
• Raúl Rodríguez Cabrera - webmaster

The following Honorary Member from other Imago societies and Cuban colleagues already retired from the camera work and a journalist specialized in the work with DoP's, have been welcomed into their association:

• Caridad Cumaná

The General Assembly proposed and discussed to finally approve the changing of our denomination from CCU to ACF: Autores Cubanos de Fotografía para Obras Cinematográficas y de Vídeo.
"We think this denomination summarizes and explains more clearly who we are and what our objectives are." says José Manuel Riera, secretary of the ACF.
